![]() Having no real shape of her own, her power comes via possession and an enchanted tiara. While Sauron is the great evil and literal all-seeing eye in Lord of the Rings, Lodoss War's Karla the Grey Witch is decidedly more subtle. Giving her more to do than her bow-wielding counterpart, and perhaps making her a lead, could set a Lodoss War series apart from the male-dominated fantasy landscape. Her control of elemental magic and role as the series' heart puts her a step above Legolas in terms of personality. Deedlit the high elf is the series' most popular character and perhaps can be compared to Legolas by ear-shape alone, but the similarities end there. Lodoss War does have its own flavor, however. ![]() For a more on-the-nose comparison, the party's dwarf is simply known as Ghim - an angrier version of Tolkien's Gimli. Gandalf's presence is known through Slayn, the wizard. ![]() ![]() Parn, Lodoss' heroic knight, is the series' Aragorn - minus the cool aura of being a ranger. ![]()
